Warren Wilson College is a vibrant, nationally recognized, independent liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 600 undergraduates located on a 1,135-acre campus in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. Evening Custodians will work as a team to maintain a healthy environment and an aesthetically appealing campus. Custodians supplement a custodial work force made up of students in a work-learning program focused on student development. The primary responsibility of this role is providing custodial care to academic and administrative buildings in the evenings. This position may also supplement a team of student workers during the day time, as needed. Custodians will be expected to model professional behavior and a positive attitude towards work to their students coworkers.


Custodial Care

  • Ensures the cleanliness of the campus facilities, especially academic and office buildings
  • Follows best practices to clean and disinfect bathrooms
  • Care for classrooms by vacuuming, resetting furniture, and cleaning chalkboards
  • Provides regular custodial maintenance to common areas, entryways, hallways, and offices
  • Takes recycling and solid waste to collection sheds
  • Responds to minor custodial emergencies during work time (floods, spills, etc)

Facilities Support

  • Provides coverage during day shifts and over school breaks as needed
  • Assists Facilities Customer Service with event set-up and breakdowns that must be performed in the evening
  • Staffs major events such as commencement and homecoming
  • Assists with inclement weather duties

  • Previous custodial experience preferred but not required
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team

Schedule/Hours: 20-28 hours a week, primarily second shift, schedules can be flexible and will vary
