Warren Wilson College seeks applicants for a full-time, entry-level faculty position in the Department of Music. The faculty member will teach curricula connected with the College’s major in music, which includes a distinctive concentration in Traditional Music in addition to a General Music concentration. This will include applied and ensemble instruction in addition to relevant courses in music theory, history, and culture, all of which will depend upon the faculty member’s expertise and departmental needs.
It is a basic expectation that all Warren Wilson College faculty exhibit excellence in teaching, maintain an active research and/or performance agenda, and contribute to the life of the College. A completed doctorate degree in a music field (Ph.D., D.M.A., D.M.E., or equivalent) is required except in cases where the faculty possesses significant experience as a national and international performing artist, which may be acceptable in lieu of a terminal degree in music. The faculty member must develop a strong teaching record that contributes to the College’s innovative General Education, First-Year Seminar, and Community Engagement programs.
Interested candidates should apply electronically and should include in their application a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional reference. Cover letter should describe how the position aligns with the candidate's expertise and interests and explain how, as a teacher, scholar, mentor, or community member, the candidate would contribute to Warren Wilson College's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Electronic submission is required. Review of applications will begin on November 1 and will continue until the search concludes.
